Blog

Although I have a thriving blog on blogspot, (http://ekaiserwritesablog.blogspot.com/) I wanted to make sure the posts were archived here as well. So, in February '13 I backed up all the posts from E. Kaiser Writes-A-Blog onto this one... And I will try to keep them as "in tandem" as I can!

Thanks for stopping by, and it you think of anything to say, please do! I love comments, and hearing from folks is the reason that I blog!
 Thanks again....

Kill the Character; any character?

Posted by E. Kaiser on October 30, 2012 at 8:30 PM Comments comments (0)

I mentioned last week during the Reader Interview with Heather McD. that I was on the same page with her as far as character killing went. In retrospect, I may have been hasty in my statement, because she didn't elaborate on her thoughts. So here's mine!

...Earlier in the season I got to talking with a writer...

A Call For Interviews!

I am tired of only hearing my side of the story on here.

(Well, mostly only. I did interview Sarah Holman, which was a blast...)

And the comments you folks leave are terrific! But I want to hear more form you.

 Therefore...

I'm putting out a call for writer interviews!

 Or reader interviews!

(That would be a ton of fun! Let's do that! If you ar...

Q&A: Hair color?

Posted by E. Kaiser on October 2, 2012 at 7:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Red hair: popular with even the Old Masters.

During a recent interview I offered; "I wrote the first draft as a gift for my sister, and she is a plot detective. She also objects to nearly every cliche known to novelists, so I was particularly hard pressed to create this character and her story arc.  I plotted out ...

Okay... who loves sailing ships?

Can we see a show of hands?

Right. That question should be "Who doesn't love sailing ships?" and I bet we wouldn't get any hands.

 Those ...

 Hey! Have you seen these?

22 Rules of Pixar Storytelling

 I hadn't, 'til now.

What do you think of them?

I'm kind of tickled, myself! There's a lot to think on here, and plenty to take away back to our 'dens' to mess with and figure out how to work them into our writing.

 I like #1. I...

Research: Period Costume LinksWords, Words, Words

Words, Words, Words

Sometimes I run out of words. Yes, I know... how horrible! For a word-smith like myself, some might not believe it possible.

But there are times when I know exactly what I want to say... but haven't a clue how to say it. The Word escapes me... sometimes because I simply don't know it.

Especially when writing about period things.

What do you call that thing that the chatelaine keeps at her waist with her k...

Posted by E. Kaiser on August 11, 2012 at 6:55 PM Comments comments (0)

[ Here we introduce a series of questions I've received or heard, and my responses. I hope this can serve as conversation starters, 'cause I want to hear what the rest of you think of these questions, too. Am I bonkers? (You don't have to answer that directly.) Just tell me what you think and let the readers deduce for themselves. ;-) ]

First question:

Q: How did you come up with the name Fia? :)

  A: I ...

Well, FB is one of those things that Writer's Digest keeps saying every writer should have, so dutiful me, I have one.

(You all knew this, I'm sure.)

Anyway, like every writer out there says, it is a huge time warp, as in, "Where did that time go? I was only on here a second!"
